Privacy Policy

This is the privacy policy for Big Bites Tiny Kitchen (micheledaulerio.com), a personal food blog written and run by Michele D'Aulerio. The site is not a business. There is no advertising, no affiliate tracking, no data sold to anyone and no monetization. It is just food, stories and the occasional newsletter.

This page explains the small amount of information the site collects, why it collects it and what you can do about it.

What I collect

Email addresses. If you sign up for the newsletter ("The Weekly Table"), I collect your email address and first name. I use this only to send you the newsletter and a one-time welcome email.

Comments. If you leave a comment on a recipe, dining review or story, I collect the name and email you submit along with the comment itself. The name is shown publicly with the comment. The email is not shown publicly. If you check the box to be notified of replies, I will email you when someone replies in that thread.

Analytics. The site uses Google Analytics to count page views and see which content is being read. This collects standard anonymous traffic data: rough location, browser, pages visited. I do not use it to identify you personally. If you would rather opt out, you can install Google's Analytics Opt-out browser add-on.

That is the complete list. There is no advertising network, no remarketing, no third-party tracking pixels, no affiliate cookies.

How I use it

• Newsletter emails: a welcome email when you subscribe, a biweekly Sunday newsletter and the occasional ad-hoc note.
• Comment replies: only sent if you opted in on the comment form.
• Analytics: to see what people are reading and what they are not. Aggregate only.

I do not sell or share email addresses. I do not pass them to advertisers, sponsors or third parties.

Where it is stored

The site runs on Amazon Web Services. Email addresses live in an AWS DynamoDB database in the US East region. Newsletter sends go through Amazon SES. Comments go through AWS Lambda and DynamoDB. These are standard hosting services. They run the infrastructure but do not access content for any purpose beyond keeping the site running.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link at the bottom of every email. You can also email me and I will remove you immediately.
• Stop comment-reply emails using the unsubscribe link in those notifications.
• Delete your data. If you would like me to remove your email address or a comment, email me at bigbitestinykitchen@gmail.com and I will do it.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies to count unique visitors. Outside of that, the site does not set tracking cookies. Your browser settings can block cookies if you prefer.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe I have, email me and I will delete it.

Changes to this policy

I will update this page if anything material changes. The effective date at the top will reflect the most recent version.
